These Shea Stadium relics were removed after the final game @
Shea Stadium on 9/28/08. While the actual age of these base mounts are
believed to be the original/only mounts ever employed @ Shea Stadium.
The wooden home plate mount has eleven layers
of wood to it!
Just think of all
the baseball greats who stepped on these pieces of baseball history?!!
The concrete
base holders each have a 2" metal sleeve in the middle where the game
bases used to be housed on the Shea diamond.
